This evening will present an introduction to, and an attempt to, provide some clarity of, a rather unclear and complex subject – the new the Marine Equipment Directive (MED) 2014/90/EU - the ‘wheel mark’ standard. While safety standards for marine equipment installed on board ships are set internationally, this European legislation has been established to ensure these requirements are applied uniformly on board ships flying the flag of any European Union (EU) country.
The significant changes to the Marine Equipment Directive will be presented, including which extra conditions will be imposed on the national authorities responsible for certifying equipment on ships flying their flag when issuing, endorsing or renewing certificates, and what impacts this has for manufacturers of marine equipment.
Come learn about how the Directive improves safety at sea, prevents marine pollution, and ensures international safety standards for equipment on EU ships are interpreted in the same way across the EU.
Entry is free. Sandwiches and beverages will be provided at the events. Signing up is necessary for participation.
