Determining the optimal voyage from A to B is not a trivial task when the voyage is influenced by varying wind, wave and current conditions and varying ship performance.
During the last couple of years state-of-the-art for route optimization has been pushed forward by including very advanced features in the route planning systems like e.g. adaptive self-tuning ship performance models (based on Digital Twins, AI and Machine Learning concepts), and rational handling and communication of uncertainties on weather forecasts.
A small network group under the Transport Innovation Network has worked together to stimulate mutual inspiration to further optimise route planning. Insights and results from this work will be presented during this event.
